Fairview High School Band

Winter Guard

Winter Guard is a competitive group that performs indoors during the winter months.  Performances are set to music and interpreted through synchronized spinning of flags, sabers, rifles and dance.

Chamber Ensembles

Extracurricular groups of students that form separate, smaller ensembles.  These groups may perform at events such as the FvHS Talent Show, WCS Fine Arts Festival, and band-related fundraising events.

Competition Band (Marching Band)

In addition to the instruments included in Concert Band, this ensemble includes a Color Guard and a physical element to performances for the purpose of outdoor entertainment and competition.  The Competition (Marching) Band, composed almost 100% of Concert Band participants, is an extracurricular ensemble for students who are highly dedicated to band.  We meet two weeks during the summer for Band Camp and rehearse after school twice a week in the fall.  The Competition Band performs at both home and away football games. Additionally, The Band marches in community parades and competes in band contests and invitationals throughout the season.

Color Guard

The color guard is a non-musical section of the Competition Band that provides additional visual aspects to the performance by interpretation of the music through the synchronized spinning of flags, sabers, rifles and dance.  Members of the Color Guard may or may not be members of the Concert Band.
