Fairview High School Band

Fairview, TN

Fairview High School Band offers the following opportunities for our students.

Concert Band (Class)

The performing ensemble consisting of members of the woodwind, brass and percussion families.  Participation requires enrollment in concert band or  percussion class during the school day.  The concert band typically has four concerts during the year; Winter Concert, Concert Performance Assessment (field trip to MTSU), CPA prep concert, and a Spring Concert.  Other performances (designated parades, pep rallies, etc) take place during the school day.  Attendance to these performances is mandatory; as it is a summative assessment of the band.  Members of the concert band are invited to join the Competition Band at football games and related events.

Competition Band

In addition to the instruments included in Concert Band, this ensemble includes a Color Guard and a physical element to performances for the purpose of outdoor entertainment and competition.  The Competition (Marching) Band, composed almost 100% of Concert Band participants, is an extracurricular ensemble for students who are highly dedicated to band.  We meet two weeks during the summer for Band Camp and rehearse after school twice a week in the fall.  The Competition Band performs at both home and away football games. Additionally, The Band marches in community parades and competes in band contests and invitationals throughout the season.

Chamber Ensembles

Extracurricular groups of students that form separate, smaller ensembles.  These groups may perform at events such as the FvHS Talent Show, WCS Fine Arts Festival, and band-related fundraising events.

Color Guard

The color guard is a non-musical section of the Competition Band that provides additional visual aspects to the performance by interpretation of the music through the synchronized spinning of flags, sabers, rifles and dance.  Members of the Color Guard may or may not be members of the Concert Band.

Winter Guard

Winter Guard is a competitive group that performs indoors during the winter months.  Performances are set to music and interpreted through synchronized spinning of flags, sabers, rifles and dance.
